Yves You really do twist and turn. Easyspace were led by your signature (which I see you have cut out of my posting) as ‘rec.travel.europe FAQ Maintainer’. I use different signatures for different places, but I post them where they are based. At no time have you posted here with a signature that you are ‘rec.travel.europe FAQ Maintainer’, and patently obvious why, you would have been shot down in flames! I was very persistent with Easyspace, I sent three faxes, two e-mails, and submitted two web response forms. They do seem impressed by signatures, and as I am a paid advisor for Expedia Travel, they were happy to deal with me. I also firmly believe I am a fair person. Easyspace only agreed you were correct because of the FAQ which you altered, and said that you were responsible for enforcing. A light-hearted scenario for you; How about I publish an FAQ and say in it that Yves Bellefeuille is banned from the newsgroup for anti-social behaviour. Then next time you post here, I write to Storm, and say that I am the FAQ Maintainer? Fair or not? I haven’t finished with Easyspace by a long way, and will continue to liase with them concerning Jack. Should they make a mistake again, Jack won’t be hosting with them anyway, and let’s see how you get on dealing with the hosting company that hosts Barclays Bank, Gillette, Barclaycard, The Guardian, News International, Guardian Direct, Bank of Scotland, Virgin Group, and the Financial Times. I also haven’t finished with this FAQ Maintainer thing, but I need to do some homework first. I am supposed to be running a hotel, and what happened to helping people on this Newsgroup with travel queries? All put on hold to deal with you! Finally, you said that Easyspace agreed "it is inappropriate to post frequent lengthy extracts", but that was only because you told them it was. They won’t agree with you by the time I have finished with them. — Andrew Taylor. Expedia Travel. I certainly do. I like to catch an article here now & then, particularly a newer one, as I often don’t have time to work my way through the website to find it. Ironically, then, at least in my case, by posting some of his stuff here, Jack is decreasing rather than increasing the number of hits he gets on the website – hardly a profiteering tactic! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> — > <http://www.worldtable.com> Food/Wine/Travel > - > I link to Jacks’ site on my home page.

I quite agree on all counts, except that Yves never claimed to represent the *desires* of this newsgroup, but rather the Rules, as he himself defined them, or perhaps Usenet holy writ.

He has refered to the group’s charter, which we could change, and he has taken the role of FAQ maintainer, which someone else could do. We are not powerless here and doing something constructive like changing the charter could help to stop this kind of harrassment. Worse than pretending to represent the desires of the group, he pretends to represent what’s allowable and what’s not. He pretends to be the ruler more than he pretends to represent the rules. >All that said; let’s lay off any smarmy comments about his medical condition >(Because that is what this kind of illness really is, a chemical imbalance >in the brain; treatable with appropriate medication.)
It’s the low blows and underhanded attacks by Yves that started this. The smarmy comments should be eliminated, but it’s more than remotely possible that one’s mental condition is reflected in one’s actions and thus the subject is valid. I don’t hate Yves so much as I hate what he is attempting to do in this group and what he’s already accomplished in terms of Jack’s DNS. This is simply unacceptable to me and my mental state is clearly open to scrutiny on the subject of harassment and underhanded attacks. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Julie > I do suffer from depression. If you are telling the truth, Yves, you are not the only person to have suffered from depression. I’ve suffered from depressive periods myself and it is not very pleasant nor is the medicine, to be honest, but recovering from clinical depression is worth the time and effort. However you have been digging a hole for yourself here recently and I sincerely hope that these attacks on Jack are not attempts by you to build up your self-esteem. I recommend you find time to recover your perspective and do things that you enjoy instead. I suspect you are probably right in that we are dealing with people who are not terribly balanced and for whom the name of the game is dealing with their own emotions. While all sorts of terrible accusations (going way beyond the facts of the current matter) obviously don’t make sense, if you look at his posting history, at some point he open admits he has been taking pretty nasty antidepressant stuff. At the end of the day, we are probably dealing with one of these pretty insecure kids who turn into a tiger behind the keyboard. He is after his hour of glory on the Usenet; he gets on a campaign against spam which is actually all right as far as his emotions don’t get in the picture. But then he gets jaleous of Jack and things get out of hand, starting with his own judgement. Hence these unreal accusations etc. The rest of the story, we know.

That is the key issue. It needs to be emphasised by and to anyone taking part in this debate that Beautiful Leaf is the "Self Styled and Self Appointed Administrator of the Unofficial FAQ". Perhaps Yves himself would change his by-line to that? Otherwise other ISPs and casual observers may be impressed with his "Official Position". You told them you are the admisitrator of the faq and that it is your complaint upon which they acted. You found a very unprofessional outfit who was easily intimidated. You have no way of proving ISPs do anything all of the time. You’ve been taking shots at Jack and as the law of averages would have it, you’ve scored a hit because he used a cheap and unprofessional ISP who could be bullied into believing you had some authority. No one has ever said you weren’t clever. >The message I sent had complete references to headers, Message-IDs and >URLs, so the ISP could verify everything. There is nothing in Esayspace’s regulations or terms that in any way prohibited Jack from posting as he does, except for one line that requires posters to adhere to the group’s faq and since you administer the faq, they trusted you.
